GEOgraphical understanding and

context WITH GLOBE.....

(CLASS 4 SST UNIT6)

If we look at a globe or simple map of the world the first thing we notice is that it is two different colors.  These colors are usuallygreen and blue.  The green area is land, and the blue area is water.
One way to look at the world is by looking at a globe.  A globe is a round model of the Earth.  By looking at a globe and spinning it around, we can see all the areas of land and water in scale, so they are exactly true to their real shapes and sizes...  Having a true scale is an advantage of using a globe.

The understanding of the earth as represented by a globe of the world is a central idea of geography. . Using the globe reinforces the idea that the earth is not flat, that it is a planet in space, that oceans of water dominate it, and that it is constantly rotating and revolving..........

Learning Directions with GLOBE(CLASS 3 SOCIAL SCIENCE)

To help young children learn location, position and directions..... make sure they know the location of their town and their street address, and that they can describe the building and neighborhood in which they live.

Every place has a "global address" AND THE GLOBE tells exactly where in the world it's located ...................

LEARNING WITH GLOBE  (CLASS 5 SST UNIT 6 )                       A fun and realistic  introduction to geography with a globe in hand..... a globe is a great learning tool for children of all ages. Point out where you live , where you've been on holiday or where you'd like to go, names of all the countries , the lifestyle of different people
and learn more about  ......CONTINENTS   AND OCEANS..................
